Application of the artificial intelligence technology in legal proceedings: from theory to practice

This article raises the current issue of the possibility to use an artificial intelligence (AI) technology in legal proceedings. It is obvious that today the civilizational development of society has reached the next stage of its transformation, when the use of digital tools and artificial intelligence
technologies causes changes in state and legal policy, regulation and control of these processes. Neural networks are one of the most popular and sought-after technologies, they allow automating industrial and other processes. Some attempts have been made to use automatic tools in legal proceedings, solving minor issues. Meanwhile, the Russian legal order is conservative, and global trends in using AI technologies are causing more concern than facilitation in implementing public interests. Thus, the AI technology has not yet received wide practical application, but trends for scientific and theoretical understanding of this issue is obvious. In this regard, the subject of this article is the study of how the AI technology is used in legal proceedings of the international level in order to determine the legal vector and focus for the possible application of positive experience in Russian legal proceedings. A critical analysis of the theoretical and practical basis and the use of project modeling as
a research methodology allowed the authors to formulate conclusions regarding the prospects for using the AI technology in Russian legal proceedings. The results obtained, taking into account the comparative analysis of the application and development of the relations under consideration, can serve as a basis for amending the current legislation of Russia.
